Comparing MIYUKI, TOHO, Grade A, and Ordinary Seed Beads

In this article, we’ll help you figure out which type of round and cylinder seed beads on our website best suits your needs. We’ll cover MIYUKI, TOHO, Grade A, and Ordinary Seed Beads.
MIYUKI and TOHO are produced by leading Japanese manufacturers, while Grade A and Ordinary Seed Beads are made in China.

11/0 Round MIYUKI vs. TOHO vs. Grade A vs. Ordinary

MIYUKI and TOHO seed beads are highly consistent in both size and hole shape. Their bead walls are very thin, making the holes easy to see through. This makes them ideal for creating delicate, detailed designs. The main difference is that TOHO beads typically have slightly larger holes than MIYUKI, while MIYUKI beads tend to be a bit flatter than TOHO beads of the same size.
Grade A seed beads are imitation Japanese seed beads. They are fairly uniform in size and shape, similar to MIYUKI and TOHO, but their bead walls are thicker, so the holes are less transparent.
Ordinary seed beads, on the other hand, are valued for their very affordable price. However, their sizes and shapes are less consistent. You may need to sort or filter them before using.
